Dr. Kumar Vishwas – A Living Legend of Hindi Literature

Dr. Kumar Vishwas, the celebrated poet of the Hindi literary world—perhaps there are very few who haven’t heard of him. But just in case someone hasn’t, let me enlighten you.

A man of immense charm and wit, Dr. Vishwas has played a pivotal role in bringing our mother tongue, Hindi, onto the international stage. A former politician, but more importantly—what truly makes him special—is the fact that he hails from Uttar Pradesh ✋.

I had never imagined I’d get the chance to witness Dr. Kumar Vishwas live, that too during my college years. I consider myself extremely fortunate that during my time, Lucknow University celebrated its centenary—100 glorious years—and I had the incredible opportunity to see and listen to him in person.

On the evening of November 23rd, at 5:30 PM, as Kumar Ji stepped onto the stage, the students of the university welcomed him in a truly unique style:

And from that moment, Kumar Ji was in full form—unstoppable, charismatic, and electrifying. He began reciting his poetic tribute to Lucknow:

The aura of his words, the depth of his emotions, and the magic in his voice captivated everyone present.

And then came some of his most poignant and soul-touching verses—shayyari that resonates deeply with anyone who has loved, lost, or lived through separation:

And then, he touched hearts again with another masterpiece of longing and resilience:

...To be continued ❤
